Federated Hermes makes EM appointment

The dedicated stewardship arm of Federated Hermes, EOS, has appointed Ross Teverson to head its engagement team for Asia and Global Emerging Markets (EM).
London-based Teverson will take on the responsibility of spearheading the development and implementation of EOS’ Engagement Plan that encompasses corporate and public policy and market best practices in Asia and Global EM.
“I am very pleased to welcome Ross to the team, with his deep experience in stewardship and company engagement,” Bruce Duguid, Head of Stewardship at Federated Hermes Limited, said.
“Asia and the Emerging Markets are particularly important for our stewardship clients and someone of Ross’s calibre will be a significant addition to our global platform.”
Teverson brings over two decades of experience and expertise in asset management and stewardship working with firms across Asia and other EM regions. His previous roles include Head of Strategy for global EM equities at Jupiter Asset Management, where he also was a member of the stewardship committee and leadership group. He also held various investment positions at Standard Life Investments.
“Global momentum behind shareholder proposals on climate and human rights remain on the increase, with Asia and Emerging Markets at the forefront of this expansion,” Teverson said.
“We are also seeing Asian regulators progressively encourage the adoption and disclosure of Paris aligned transition strategies. The team and I look forward to broadening the climate conversation from a focus on environmental risk to amplify the social risk of failing to ensure a just transition, alongside our existing programme of engagement.”
In 2022, EOS engaged with close to 300 companies across Asia and EM regions as part of its 2022-2024 plan. Teverson joins a global team of 60 working across Federated Hermes’ stewardship and responsibility arms.
