Lazard AM appoints global tech & ops chief

Multinational asset management firm Lazard Asset Management (LAM) has promoted experienced tech leader Larry Cohen to head the group’s global technology and operations functions.
As LAM’s next managing director and global head of tech and operations, Cohen will be tasked with refining the investment company’s technology, systems and operational infrastructure, “supporting the next stage of growth and expansion” for the firm, said LAM chief executive Evan Russo.
Russo hailed Cohen’s “deep experience across operations, technology, portfolio implementation, and operational risk” across the asset management and financial services industry.
A highly experienced technology leader in the finserv space, Cohen was most recently partner and global head of operations and technology at fellow global investment management firm AllianceBernstein – a role he held for more than 13 years.
In this role, he oversaw strategic planning, governance, and management of technology programs, alongside business operations, enterprise infrastructure, application development, information security, data management, client services, and business continuity.
Largely based in the US, Cohen has served in various technology leadership roles, including stints at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, and UBS.
He was also president of global not-for-profit robotics education community, FIRST, between 2019 and 2021, beginning his relationship with the group in 2010.
LAM is an indirect subsidiary of Lazard Ltd, offering a range of equity, fixed income, and alternative investment products worldwide.
As of December 31, 2022, LAM and affiliated asset management companies in the Lazard Group managed $216 billion worth of client assets.
