Melior moves under Perennial umbrella

In yet another reflection of the current funds management dynamic, Perennial Partners and Melior Investment Management have entered into agreements to transfer the investment management rights of the Melior Australian Impact Fund to Perennial.
Under the arrangement, Perennial will acquire a majority stake in Melior and the Melior investment team will increase their equity in the business with the co-founders of private equity group Adamantem Capital also retaining a stake.
Melior’s large-cap focused fund will now be offered alongside Perennial’s Better Future small and mid-cap focused fund which the two managers said would enable Perennial to offer investors a more complete suite of sustainable investing funds.
Melior chief investment officer and co-founder, Tim King will continue to oversee the fund’s investment and advocacy strategy with Melior portfolio manager, Nina Wilkinson, continuing to manage the fund alongside Melior investment analyst Siona Fernandes.
The announcement said that Melior chief executive and co-founder, Lucy Steed will take on an advisory role at Perennial and will become chair of the Melior Advisory Council relating to the fund.
Commenting on the move, Perennial Partners executive director, Anthony Patterson said the firm was delighted to welcome the Melior team and investors to the Perennial family.
Patterson said he wanted to reinforce to investors that all the necessary resources will continue to be committed to the management of the Fund to ensure that investment opportunities can be captured.”
“In particular, with CIO and Co-Founder Tim King and his colleagues Nina Wilkinson and Sona Fernandes joining the Perennial team, continuity of management and investment strategy is ensured, while now having the substantial resources of Perennial to draw from.”
Melior CIO and Co-Founder Tim King said Perennial is a highly regarded investment manager and joining forces will enable the Melior Australian Impact Fund to continue to realise investment opportunities and build scale.
“Melior is proud of the solid foundation we’ve established for our Australian Impact Fund and the robust investment process we’ve demonstrated over the past six years. With Perennial’s strategic, operational and distribution expertise and access to an investor base made up of financial advisers, wealth managers, institutional, high net worth and family offices, we look forward to growing the Melior Australian Impact Fund in its next stage of development.”
