Accounting most in demand sector to work

New analysis from CMC Markets has found accounting is the “most-desired” sector to work in around the world, while working as an auditor was the most “in demand” finance job.
Based on an analysis of monthly Google searches and number of UK-based job listings on job site Indeed, the online trading platform found the search of ‘auditor’ gleaned 222,500 monthly Google searches, including 5,000 searches for ‘auditor jobs’ and 500 searches for ‘auditor careers’.
This comes as Indeed had 785 auditor jobs available on its site. Searches for ‘actuary careers’ and ‘actuary jobs’ came to a combined 166,600, with 1,030 jobs currently listed on Indeed.
Corporate banking and bank teller jobs came in third and fourth with 96,820 and 43,250 searches respectively, despite there being only 3,748 corporate banking and 35 bank teller jobs available on Indeed in the UK.
Forensic accounting was the fifth most desired career path with 39,650 Google searches, despite only recording 64 job openings online. A client adviser was also the seventh most popular job with 29,080 searches and 811 job openings.
“Despite the scarcity of jobs in some industries, it seems that there is a noticeable interest within different sectors of the finance world,” Michael Hewson, Chief Market Analyst at CMC Markets, said.
“It is interesting to see that a large proportion of this number is made up of searches related to the banking sector. And as a whole, financial careers are being searched for 2,935,840 times per month on Google.
“This number is definitely something to keep an eye on, as people may look to seek new job opportunities in throughout 2023.”
