New figures from Kaplan Professional has estimated there is still just under 1,000 financial advisers remaining who have yet to complete the education requirement prior to 31 December Financial Adviser Standards (FAS) deadline.

For advisers who do not meet the 10-year experience exemption, Kaplan said its six-week summer intensive course will be the last opportunity to complete the education requirements, with the final results released on 15 December – just before the deadline.

“We know the pressure advisers are under as the deadline approaches – that is why the Summer Intensive matters,” Kaplan Professional CEO, Brian Knight, said.

“It is a final, flexible six-week sprint to the finish line, and our team is ready to work with every adviser, whatever their situation.

“While we have confirmed with Treasury there will be no extensions, with pass rates above 90 per cent in previous intensive study periods, it is more than achievable.”

Enrolments for the course will close on 5 November. Advisers who do not meet the exemption or complete the education requirements by 31 December will be removed from the Financial Adviser Register (FAR) and can return when their studies are complete. Those who fail to do so will only be able to re-enter as a new entrant.

Nice concept but not sure they can make it work given the tight timeframes. Kaplan is normally sooooo sloooow to mark assignments and release results. Hopefully Kaplan is not allowing any employees to take leave prior to Jan 1.
