Kaplan Professional has announced it has a new dedicated paraplanning vocational course on offer to be completed online titled FNS60920 Advanced Diploma of Paraplanning.

The industry education provider said the course was available for both existing and new paraplanners, as well as those looking for a way to enter the financial advice industry, to enrol.

Structured into four subjects, the course is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of financial planning and associated services across a variety of product environments and situations.

It also teaches expert knowledge and practical skills regarding the preparation of financial plans for clients across life insurance, managed investments and superannuation, as well as the innovative skills and strategies to resolve complex issues.

“The licensees and financial advisers that we work with have been eager for a dedicated and high-quality program that addresses the needs of the modern paraplanner,” Brian Knight, Kaplan Professional chief executive, said.

“The rigorous program offers a benchmark qualification that provides formal recognition of the highly skilled and valuable role of the paraplanner.

“We hope the course will be of significant benefit to the industry because it enables individuals to develop in-depth knowledge and technical skills, as well as the ability to support financial planning practices in developing and maintaining compliant back-office procedures.”

The course structure of FNS60920 will take individuals through the core pillars of financial planning, including:

  • ADP1 Financial Planning Fundamentals
  • ADP2 Research, Analysis and Product Recommendations
  • ADP3 Present, Implement and Assess the Financial Plan
  • ADP4 Develop Complex (Multi-Strategy) Advice

“The industry is focused on supplementing its talent pool over the coming years, so this course will provide an accessible and suitable pathway for those who want to enter the industry and eventually become a financial adviser,” Knight said.

“The course also provides a pathway into higher education qualifications such as Kaplan Professional’s postgraduate financial planning courses and Kaplan Business School’s undergraduate courses.”

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)-approved course is open to enrolments now, after which individuals can commence at their convenience.
