Aldersley Capital, a boutique asset manager based in NSW, has announced the launch of a new online wealth management solution, backed by technology from wealthtech software developer OpenInvest.

Christened ‘Aldersley Capital Direct’, the new portal, which leverages OpenInvest’s white label and turnkey platform solution, promises an accessible and low-cost means for high-net-worth clients – new and old – to access the Aldersley team’s investment advice and managed portfolios.

Investors will have a choice of three investment portfolios through Capital Direct: Managed Equity, Global Thematic or Income Plus.

The fully customisable OpenInvest solution is equipped to manage onboarding, reporting, administration and customer support for asset manager businesses.

Aldersley Capital founder and industry veteran John Aldersley boasted that the new platform would enable clients to open an account online via their laptop or phone “in just five minutes” while obviating the “often-expensive upfront personal advice process”.

This, he said, would enable the investment firm to reach a much broader audience of Australia’s investors.

Aldersley further praised the new OpenInvest platform for providing the “combined power and scalability of social media with the right investment administration and legal structure”.

“I now have the means to reach an extremely large audience, combining our portfolio management expertise with our commentary”.

The Aldersley Capital founder recognised the particular appeal of the platform for the next generation of digitally savvy investors – and particularly those inheritors of the Great Wealth Transfer. Citing data from Investment Trends, he noted that nearly two in three (65%) high-net-worth investors do not have an investment adviser, despite an increasing number of investors “looking for expert and trusted assistance” though not necessarily through the “traditional and more expensive face-to-face process”.

Aldersley Capital was founded in 2013 by industry veteran John Aldersley, noted as the originator of the managed accounts platform structure in Australia via his founding of ShareInvest and DirectPortfolio in the 1990s.
