Iress brings tech nous to growing APAC Wealth team

Iress has made two senior appointments to its APAC wealth product and technology teams, adding tech muscle to wealthtech’s product development capability.
Callum Masson, the former tech chief at industry super fund Team Super, will take on the newly created role of executive general manager (EGM) of product and technology.
Masson will be tasked with driving the “vision, strategy and delivery” of the wealthtech developer’s APAC Wealth product portfolio and technology infrastructure, Iress said.
The former chief technology officer (CTO) and chief information security officer (CISO) at Team Super (formerly Mine Super) boasts 24 years’ experience in financial services and project delivery roles across Australia and the UK.
As Mine’s tech chief, Masson led the company’s technology and project delivery teams.
Prior to joining the super fund, Masson served across multiple roles at Colonial First State.
Joining Masson is Martin Johnson, appointed by Iress to the role of general manager – technology. The newly appointed tech GM will be accountable for the delivery and management of the technology products, systems and services of Iress’ APAC Wealth business.
Johnson has served more than 20 years in the corporate technology space, including senior roles at Computershare and SEEK.
Most recently, he was the head of engineering at Xero.
Iress’ chief executive of Wealth APAC Kelli Willmer said she was delighted to welcome the pair to Iress, highlighting their “extensive global leadership experience in product engineering and software architecture” and “impressive track records in delivering innovative and scalable technology solutions”.
“Callum and Martin will play a key role in aligning and evolving Iress’ product and technology capabilities as we continue to focus on driving growth in our core wealth management business and delivering exceptional value to our clients through world-class advice technology.”
The appointments of Masson and Johnson follow a late-2024 hiring blitz by Iress’s APAC wealth team, with the recent additions of a new general manager of wealth propositions (Tanya Martin), head of partnerships (Tom Cochran), head of digital advice (David Collins), head of Xplan sales (James Blanton), and Xplan sales associate (Thomas Cunich).
Last month, the Wealth APAC team also added Adam Webb, former head of Count Financial, as executive general manager of customer.
