The newly-rebranded First Sentier Group has appointed current Chief Commercial Officer, Harry Moore, to succeed outgoing chief executive, Mark Steinberg, from 1 January next year.

Moore, who was appointed Chief Commercial Officer at the start of the year, first joined the firm in 2010 and has previously held the roles of Managing Director of Australia, New Zealand, and Japan and Global Head of Distribution, Marketing and Communications based in London.

Moore has worked closely with each of First Sentier’s investment teams to develop growth strategies and support product management.

“I am excited about the role and opportunity, and to continue working with our Executive Committee and Board,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have a high number of high-quality investment teams, deep expertise across our functions and a supportive shareholder, positioning the Group well over the medium-term notwithstanding industry challenges.

“In the short term, I will be dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition from Mark’s leadership, with a focus on enhancing our affiliate model, strengthening our relationships with clients and consultants, and maintaining a solid foundation for future business growth.”

Following Steinberg’s announcement in July that he would be stepping down for the role after seven years with the firm, the First Sentier Group Board conducted a recruitment process and ultimately appointed Moore.

“We are very pleased to make this an internal appointment. Harry brings significant experience from his various senior leadership and executive roles within the Group,” Takafumi Ihara, Director, Deputy President and Executive Officer Chief Executive, Asset Management & Investor Services Business Unit at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation – First Sentier Group owner – said.

“His extensive understanding of our business and its operations, coupled with his strong relationships with our shareholder, our clients and our investment teams, along with his in-depth knowledge of asset management and markets, make him an excellent fit for this role.

“While Mark will remain CEO of First Sentier Group until the end of the year, I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Board, to extend our thanks to him for his strong leadership and dedication to the business over the past seven years.”
