HNW veteran joins Mason Stevens in strategy role

Mason Stevens has made its first senior appointment since its acquisition by private equity player Adamantem Capital was completed last month, with former Morgan Stanley executive Peter Mermelas joining the platform provider as Chief Strategy Officer.
Mason Stevens confirmed Mermelas would be responsible for growing its presence in the ultra high net worth (HNW) space, bringing over 25 years of experience in ultra HNW client engagement across equity and fund derivatives, retirement solutions and other investment strategies.
The former Head of Family Office at Morgan Stanley, Mermelas joins the firm as it continues to boost its platform capabilities and looks to enhance relationships with Australian family offices and their advisers.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Mason Stevens at such an exciting time in the company’s history,” Mermelas said.
“I have been impressed by their journey so far and believe there are plenty of opportunities to expand into new segments. I firmly believe they have the right combination of sophisticated investment offerings and knowledge to provide UHNW clients and their advisers with expert solutions.
“I look forward to supporting the business on its growth trajectory.”
The appointment comes as Mason Stevens now manages approximately AUD$8 billion in funds under administration (FUA).
“Peter’s appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to hiring exceptional talent to drive the business forward,” Tim Yule, CEO of Mason Stevens, said.
“Peter brings extensive experience in the financial services sector and a strong dedication to ensuring clients access the right investment solutions to reach their objectives.
