La Trobe Financial launches US private credit strategy

La Trobe Financial has announced the launch of its US Private Credit Trust, the first of its global asset series, with an initial investment of $130 million.
The initial investment was supported by extensive roadshow across the country which hosted a number of sessions for financial advisers and wholesale investors.
The La Trobe US Private Credit will be available for wholesale investors through direct investment or platform, where the initial investment will be followed by monthly subscriptions, and will seek to deliver an annualised distribution yield of at least 9% per annum, net of fees, with monthly paid distributions.
It will be backed by a defensive portfolio of directly originated, senior secured loan assets issued to US middle market companies, owned by large private equity firms, among others.
The firm said that a new strategy would also strengthen its position in the Australian market as its flagship alternative asset manager.
La Trobe’s chief investment officer (CIO), Chris Paton, said the successful launch of the new strategy reflected the importance of “offering to the Australian market unique investment strategies which deliver attractive risk-adjusted return.”
“As investors continue to deal with volatility in markets, the ability to access products backed by defensive, diversified of high-quality assets can make a meaningful difference to investment portfolios,” he added.
