The global asset management arm of Aviva plc, Aviva Investors, has appointed a new Head of Asia Pacific, Richard Surrency.
The former Asian private markets and alternatives lead at Franklin Templeton, Surrency will be based in Singapore and report to Aviva’s Global Head of Distribution, Scott Callander.
Surrency was responsible for developing top-level strategies and working with alternative investment, product and distribution teams to provide solutions for institutional and sophisticated clients in the region during his time at Franklin Templeton and was also a member of the firm’s APAC Executive Committee.
“Richard brings over 20 years of experience, exceptional leadership skills and strong relationships with major Asian institutions, including SWFs, pension funds, insurers and GFIs,” Callander said.
“His wealth of experience and expertise will be invaluable in this critical role given the significance, scale and potential growth opportunities in the region.”
Surrency also spent time as chief executive of Algebris Investments (Asia) and held senior APAC positions at Morgan Stanley and BNY Mellon.
