Perpetual completes equities leadership succession plan

Perpetual closed out 2022 with a key appointment to its asset funds management team – Anthony Aboud as Deputy Head of Equities.
Aboud’s appointment, announced just before Christmas, followed on from the elevation of Vince Pezzullo to Head of Equities at Perpetual which was prompted by the exit of long-standing and highly-respected Paul Skamvougeras.
It also came as Perpetual looked to bed down its acquisition of Pendal.
Pezzullo had been deputy head of equities under Skamvougeras and Aboud’s elevation sees himing stepping into Pezzullo’s previous role.
Aboud’s appointment appears consistent with Perpetual’s succession planning approach within its equities team.
Announcing Aboud’s elevation, Perpetual Asset Management Australia group executive, Amanda Gillespie said Aboud was a highly regarded investor and had extensive experience in the Australian market including particular expertise in managing long/short portfolios.
“Anthony’s appointment comes at a time when the team has never been stronger – with depth and breadth across both the portfolio manager and analyst teams – and positive momentum across investment performance and fund flows,” she said.
“Vince, Anthony and the team will continue to work toward delivering for our clients across our Australian Equities funds and mandates.”
Perpetual also last month announced the appointment of Louise Sandberg as Senior Equities Analyst. Louise, who has more than 13 years’ experience in investment research roles, commenced in her role in October and will primarily cover large and small cap companies across property, discretionary consumer and consumer staples.
