Schroders boosts credit expertise via new appointment

Schroders has committed to strengthening its delivery of credit and fixed income solutions with the appointment of former Macquarie Asset Management senior strategist, Chris Walter, as fund manager.
Walter brings a wealth of experience in credit markets to the role, having also enjoyed several credit analyst roles at AMP Capital, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). While working closely with the broader Schroders fixed income team, he will concentrate his efforts on credit research and portfolio management.
Helen Mason, Head of Credit at Schroders, welcomed Walter to the team.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong reputation in the market, which will be invaluable as we build on the strength of our credit team and strategies.”
Walter steps into the new role at the same time as Schroders’ Australian fixed income division boasts approximately $6.9 billion in funds under management (FUM), as of 30 September 2025, with only further growth expected.
“Chris is a highly respected professional in credit markets, with broad experience and we he will be an asset to our team,” Kellie Wood, Head of Fixed Income at Schroders, said.
“His experience will play a critical role in supporting our ambition to grow and deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.”
