MetLife’s menopause support offering boosts financial confidence

MetLife Australia’s menopause support program has delivered improved financial outcomes and workplace confidence for members, according to new research from the life insurer.
Available via MetLife’s existing 360Health program, the menopause support services offers customers and their family access to digital consultations with medical professionals to discuss a variety of topics including symptom management and how to get medical help if required.
The research indicated that one-third of women are financially disadvantaged due to the effects of menopause on their career, employment and ability to earn income. The life insurer estimates that Australian women lose $1.5 billion in earnings per year on average from temporarily exiting the workforce, which also leaves them with $40,000 less in superannuation by the time they reach retirement.
MetLife said over 77 per cent of customers who have used the menopause support service said it has “significantly helped with symptom management, enabling them to stay in the workforce and have healthy relationships with loved ones”.
“Menopause Support is a critical offering for a largely overlooked condition that affects every woman. It is often uncomfortable, and for some, it is debilitating,” MetLife Australia Chief Customer & Marketing Officer, Lina Saliba, said.
“We are proud that through this service, and others in our full suite of 360Health services, we can help people feel more confident in life and at work.
“360Health is offered to all our customers at no additional cost, and we find that approximately 80% of customers who have used Menopause Support also use at least one other service (such as Nutrition advice, Fitness & Recovery and Mental Health Assist), which underlines the value of our truly holistic and proactive approach to managing long-term health and wellbeing.”
