TAL secures Macgregor’s successor after CEO move

Australian life insurer, TAL, has filled the soon-to-be vacant Chief Executive – Individual Life role with the appointment of Gavin Teichner.
Teichner will commence in the role from 1 October, the same date his predecessor Fiona Macgregor will transition into her new role and take up the mantle of Group CEO and Managing Director.
“Gavin has an enormous breadth and depth of expertise across our Direct-to-consumer and Retail businesses. He is a forward-thinking leader, with a strong focus on product sustainability and ensuring TAL is a great choice for more Australians,” Macgregor said.
Teichner first joined TAL in 2009 and has been Executive General Manager – Individual Life since 2018. He has overseen a broad range of TAL’s operations including product development and management, underwriting, pricing and data analytics.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead a team of people focused on delivering high-quality and industry-leading products and services to our customers, financial advisers and corporate partners,” he said.
Macgregor’s promotion was announced last month when she had only been in the Individual Life chief executive role for eight months. The appointment was triggered by former TAL CEO, Brett Clark’s, promotion to CEO and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific for Dai-ichi Life, TAL’s parent company.
