Equip Super has named Apex Group as its new superannuation administration services partner, bringing the tenure of long-time admin partner Mercer to an end.

The announcement comes in the wake of Mercer entering into an agreement to sell its administration business in Australia to Apex Group back in January, and follows a “detailed market assessment” undertaken by Equip Super to identify the administration partner that would help strengthen the fund’s strategy and service delivery for members.

“After an extensive review, we’re pleased to enter into partnership with Apex Group,” Equip Super Chair, Michael Cameron, said.

“Apex Group is well-positioned to support us in bringing our long-term strategy to life, and delivering the next evolution of experience for our 140,000 strong membership and their employers. This first stage will see us working closely with Apex to ensure the transition is well-executed and lays the foundation for achieving meaningful benefits for our members into the long-term.”

The fund confirmed in a statement that it selected Apex Group due to its “strong alignment with the fund’s preferred operating model, their platform’s ability to administer Equip Super members and employers, the opportunity for digital uplift, and the scale and ambition required to support future growth and innovation”.

According to the statement, the super fund was expecting all members, employers and third-party partners will be fully transitioned to Apex Group’s platform by late 2027.

“We’re pleased to partner with Equip Super as their service provider,” Peter Hughes, Founder and CEO of Apex Group, said.

“Our combination of market‑leading technology and high‑quality support will give members and employers improved systems, smoother processes and a stronger service experience. We look forward to working with them to drive future growth and innovation.”

Equip Super said it was working closely with incumbent Mercer and Apex to ensure a successful and streamlined transition.
