Cbus appoints Chatfield as CIO

Cbus Super has continued to ring the changes after the appointment of Kristian Fok as chief executive, announcing that Brett Chatfield has been appointed Chief Investment Officer for the $83 billion fund.
Chatfield’s appointment represents an internal promotion. He has held senior positions at Cbus for more than a decade and most recently serving as the Fund’s Acting Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Chief Investment Officer.
Prior to joining Cbus in 2013, Chatfield worked in investment consulting, institutional investment management at another large industry fund, and research.
Cbus said that, having recently launched the Fund’s new five-year Investment strategy, Chatfield will be leading the expansion of internal investment capabilities, which has seen over 38% of the Fund’s assets brought in-house, and in conjunction with asset class refinements and pushing down external manager costs has delivered total cumulative investment costs savings for members of over $500 million since 2017,
Fok described Chatfield as having been integral in the development of Cbus’ highly successful investment model, which had ‘generated incredibly strong long-term returns for our members”.
