NGS Super has announced two new hires, of Susan Ding and Johnny Lambridis, to strengthen its international and Australian equities investment team.

Ding, appointed as senior manager, international shares, would be responsible for managing international shares portfolio and selecting investment managers while Lambridis in his new role of senior manager, Australian shares, would continue to position NGS to build on its returns from the sector, the firm said.

Ding brought almost 20 years of experience in finance and superannuation, at organisations such as T-Corp and iCare while Lambridis had over 25 years of experience including over a decade as a portfolio manager at M&G Investments and Element Investment Managers.

Commenting on the new appointments, NGS said they coincided with ‘bold recent moves’ which included the recent divestment of oil and gas exploration and production companies, such as Woodside and Santos, with a further interim target of a 35% reduction of scope 1 and scope 2 carbon emissions by 2025 within the NGS’ Diversified mySuper portfolio.

“We’re thoroughly committed to building a brighter and more sustainable future for our members, and the addition of Susan and Johnny will position us to progress and strengthen our capabilities in key sectors, both in Australia and overseas,” NGS Super’s chief investment officer, Ben Squires, said.

The fund also committed last year to a target of having a carbon neutral portfolio by 2030 and declared that achieving that target had become its key priority, a move that would include edge work to obtain an accurate baseline measurement of the carbon intensity of its investment portfolio and completing a scenario analysis of both listed and unlisted assets to create a carbon reduction glide path, it said.
