Rest promotes HR head to C-Suite
Industry super fund Rest has announced the creation of a C-level role for its HR function, promoting current people and culture GM Amy Murrell to the position.
Murrell, as chief people officer, will now report directly to Rest chief executive Vicki Doyle, with the super fund recognising the change as a “significant step in the fund’s strategic focus on its people and culture”.
“Elevating the People function to the executive table at Rest recognises the value we place in our people and workplace culture,” Doyle said.
Murrell joined Rest in 2021 from life insurer Resolution Life, appointed as general manager, people & culture – as she was at her previous employer.
Prior to joining Resolution Life, Murrell served over a decade with AMP, holding multiple senior roles across various business lines, and within legal and human resources functions. She concluded her tenure as head of people services & governance.
Her experience with employment law with Herbert Smith Freehills, where she began her career following her admission as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, has “[equipped] her with a unique perspective on workplace dynamics and legal frameworks”.
Doyle added: “Our people are key to Rest’s success and truly instrumental in supporting our members to achieve their best possible retirement outcome.
“[The appointment of Murrell] will help us stay focused on our mission to make the experience of super simple for our two million members.”
