Mike Ryan to chair Sequoia

Former Shaw and Partners Head of Equities, Mike Ryan, has been recruited to chair Sequoia Financial Group.
Sequoia, which has been the subject of internal wrangling elements of which went to the takeovers panel, announced to the Australian Securities Exchange that Ryan has been appointed as non-executive chair, effectively immediately.
Ryan succeeds acting chair, Charles Sweeney, who will remain on the Sequoia board alongside Kevin Pattison.
Sweeney became interim chair in late April following the resignation of John Larsen with Sweeney writing to shareholders to inform them of a 249D notice served on the company requesting the removal of Pattison and Sequoia chief executive, Garry Crole.
Announcing Ryan’s appointment Sequoia said that it was pleased to have secured a well-respected industry executive and was confident he would help the company achieve its goals.
