Matt Olsen joins Morningstar as Director of Research Ratings

Former Lonsec Head of Research, Matt Olsen has been appointed as Morningstar’s Director of Manager Research Ratings, Australasia.

Olsen was most recently Head of Research and Retirement Income at Insignia Financial.

Morningstar announced Olsen’s appointment this week saying he would be responsible for leading the Australasian manager research team and its research coverage on Australian and New Zealand fund managers.

It noted Olsen’s previous roles at Insignia and, prior to that, the Energy Industries Super Scheme.

The announcement said that, as practice leader, Olsen would also support Morningstar’s strategy to provide comprehensive superannuation fund ratings that would address fund fees, features and performance.

Commenting on the appointment, Morningstar Head of Research, Asia Pacific, Wing Chan said working with Morningstar’s regional and wider global manager research teams, Olsen and his team will support advisers, investors and superannuation funds in providing them with independent research and investment insights”.
