AIA Australia appoints new GM group partnerships

AIA Australia has announced the appointment of a new general manager of group partnerships, with long-time collaborator George Stavliotis to take on the role.
Stavliotis, who most recently served as vice president of client management at Swiss Re, has worked closely with AIA during his nearly eight-year tenure at the reinsurer.
In the new role, Stavliotis will be responsible for managing AIA’s client development team, expanding the relationships with AIA’s current group partners, and leading the business through contract renewal cycles, AIA said in a statement.
He reports to AIA Australia’s chief group insurance officer, Anthony Clough.
Clough recognised Stavliotis’s “high level of technical expertise”, which, he added, “[dates] back to his time at CommInsure where he worked across both retail and group”.
With his “extensive background in client management” Clough said his latest senior recruit will “strengthen [AIA’s] account management expertise”.
“It’s a significant hire for AIA, where George will help deepen our current relationships as we expand our propositions and provide funds with both an uplift in member experience and access to our broad range of value-add services,” he remarked.
Commenting on his appointment on LinkedIn, Stavliotis said: “After 11 years in reinsurance, working with the best insurer in the industry, I’ve decided to join them.”
“A great business and a great team. Group risk insurance continues to be an effective avenue to access important protection and support for members.
“I’m looking forward to meeting our clients and continue to develop great ideas and propositions for members.”
