Janus Henderson is rolling out Anthropic’s artificial technology across its investment, client-facing and corporate functions, in a push to embed generative AI deeper into the firm’s core operations.

The $500 billion asset manager said on Friday that it was building two AI-native systems on the Claude model, while also expanding deployment of the technology across the organisation. It is partnering with Percepta, an AI transformation firm backed by General Catalyst, to develop the initiative.

The move comes at a time when investment managers are facing mounting pressure to move beyond pilot projects and embed AI into core workflows to boost efficiency, improve client engagement, and maintain an edge in research and portfolio management.

One of the tools under development, PRISM, is a client intelligence platform for distribution teams that enables staff to analyse holdings, identify opportunities and prepare tailored communications.

The second, LIBROS, is a research management system that combines internal research with external analysis and market data, helping analysts and portfolio managers surface relevant information more quickly.

The company is also deploying Claude code for software engineers and introducing Anthropic’s workplace assistant, Cowork, across the organisation.

“We believe AI transformation will fundamentally change the way asset managers serve their clients when it is embedded at the core of the business,” said Ali Dibadj, chief executive of Janus Henderson.

He added that the partnership will support the group’s ambition to become “the most technologically sophisticated asset manager in the world” and enhance services for the 75 million people invested in Janus Henderson products.

Anthropic’s head of asset and wealth management Peter Nolan said Janus Henderson was putting Claude “directly into the hands of the teams’ managing investments and client relationships”.

“Asset management is a knowledge-intensive industry where reliable AI can help teams work faster and serve clients better,” Nolan said.
