Bunning to oversee distribution at Channel Capital

Fund manager services company, Channel Capital, has appointed Keenan Bunning as its Distribution Director, placing an industry veteran at the forefront of its efforts to support wealth advisers across regional and metropolitan markets.
Bunning, who brings 25 years of experience in financial institutions, will emphasise particularly on helping advisers and practices confidently navigate the evolving alternatives landscape on his new role.
Channel Capital’s Co-Head of Distribution, Byron Slessar, said Keenan’s appointment was a deliberate investment in the quality of support for the firm’s clients.
“As allocations to high quality, uncorrelated strategies become an increasingly important tool in cushioning portfolios against market dislocation, the depth of insight and education advisers require goes well beyond a traditional distribution relationship,” Slessar said.
“Keenan’s experience and professional standing make him well placed to deliver on that.”
He joins the Capital from Australian Ethical Investment, where he led the national business development team before spearheading its push into private wealth and family office channels.
Prior to Ethical, Bunning spent five years at Perpetual Investments as Senior Business Development Manager. He has also held senior roles at Colonial First State, Rabobank, Citigroup, Commonwealth Bank and Deutsche Private Bank.
Bunning said he was joining Channel Capital at a time when the conversation around alternative assets has never been more relevant.
“Advisers are actively seeking diversified sources of risk and return, and the quality of education and support available to them in navigating these strategies is paramount,” Keenan said.
“I look forward to being part of the conversations that help advisers build real conviction in this space.”
Founded in 2013, Channel Capital services over A$63 billion on behalf of its investment manager partners across a suite of public and private market alternative asset strategies.
