Amundi acquires Alpha Associates

European investment manager Amundi has acquired independent asset manager, Alpha Associates in a move which it says will position it as a leading European player in the multi-manager space.
Announcing the acquisition, Amundi said that the combined entity would deliver a team of 79 experts, a combined €20 billion of assets under management and an enhanced multi-manager offering across private debt, infrastructure, private equity and venture capital.
Commenting on the transaction, Amundi chief executive, Valerie Baudson said the acquisition would allow the firm to significantly broaden its client base, capabilities and product offering.
“This move, which is fully in line with our strategic objective to increase our footprint in Alternative and Real Assets in Europe, will allow us to create substantial value for our clients and shareholders,” he said.
Alpha Associates is a Zurich-based, founder-led, specialist in private markets multi-manager solutions, which currently manages €8.5billion of assets.
