Brighter Super enhances advice capabilities via new appointments

Brighter Super has committed to growing its advice offering and capabilities for members via three new senior appointments who will be responsible for strengthening member engagement and improving retirement outcomes.
Former Head of Advice Delivery at AIA Financial Wellbeing, Haley Powell, has been appointed Head of Superannuation and Retirement Advice; ex-National SMSF Manager at Findex, Craig Godfrey, will take on the role of Head of IFA Partnership and Growth; and Brendan Nerdal’s existing role in corporate relations has been expanded to now take on the role of Head of Stakeholder and Corporate Relations.
Powell will spearhead the expansion of the super fund’s advice offering via “scalable and modular service models”, while Godfrey will be responsible for nurturing approximately 1,600 of Brighter Super’s relationships with independent financial advisers (IFA) and its superannuation specialists, as well as the fund’s growth strategy.
Nerdal will continue in the role he has held since 2024 leading the corporate relations team, while also focusing on engaging with more stakeholders and partners as the fund looks to expand its advice capabilities.
Brighter Super Chief Member Officer, Lisa Kay, said the appointments speak to the fund’s commitment to delivering more accessible, affordable and streamlined financial advice.
“After three years of mergers and acquisition, our fund is now well placed to deliver on the promises we made to members and we will be out there with them, understanding their retirement needs and supporting their retirement goals,” she said.
“We know our personal connections are what truly drive better retirement outcomes for our members. Through our advice partners and local super specialists, we help ensure members receive guidance that reflects their individual goals and circumstances.”
