Finder awards top super products amid growing knowledge gap

UniSuper, AMP and Aware Super have won big at online comparison site Finder’s Super Funds Awards 2026, at the same time as new research indicates many Australians are still unaware of where their super is invested.
Finder analysis of product and customer satisfaction data across 500 investment options from 51 providers saw UniSuper and AMP take home the top gongs for Industry Super Fund of the Year and Retail Fund of the Year, and Aware Super notch two nods in the product awards section, with its International Shares and Australian Shares options taking out the High Growth and Low Fees categories.
UniSuper’s Australian Income option won the Moderate category, while Hostplus’ Indexed Balanced option and MLC’s MK Super Fundamentals – Low Cost Conservative Balanced option rounding out the winners in the Balanced and Conservative categories, respectively.
The announcement of the award recipients also brought to light a significant knowledge gap when it comes to Australians’ awareness of what their superannuation is invested in, which Finder found sits at approximately 22 per cent.
Finder money expert, Richard Whitten, said the results of the awards show how super funds are tailored to specific member types, life stages and risk appetites.
“Your investment option is one of the biggest levers you have over your final retirement balance. Not knowing what you’re invested in is like driving with your eyes closed.
“Most Aussies start with a balanced investment option by default, usually with a fund chosen by their first employer, and they never look at it again. However, younger people are typically better off in a high growth option.
“While riskier in the short term, a high growth fund on average gives you a higher return, which matters more when you’re younger and are trying to grow your balance.
“Whether you’re a young worker looking for a high-growth option or closer to retirement and needing something more conservative, the award winners are a great place to start.”

Good idea, if its low cost and does same thing as other platforms without added headaches or product driven fluff…
Someone has to fund the Big Bloated Bureaucracy.
Should ban industry fund advertising and sponsorships whilst they're at it. Also a form of lead generation in my view.
