Capital Group taps BlackRock exec to lead regional ETFs

Capital Group has appointed former BlackRock executive Jamie Sinclair as head of ETFs for Europe and Asia-Pacific, as the $3.4 trillion asset manager prepares to launch its long-awaited suite of exchange traded funds in the region.
The Los-Angeles based manager has yet to reveal when the first suite of funds will be available to market, but it began assembling its local ETF team in July 2025. As part of the push, the firm also hired Jim Goldie as head of the region’s ETF capital markets earlier this year.
In his twelve-year stint at BlackRock Sinclair served in range of portfolios, most recently holding the position of managing director and head of iShares product distribution for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“We are pleased to welcome Jamie Sinclair to Capital Group. Jamie brings extensive experience in ETF distribution and a strong understanding of clients’ needs across Europe and Asia Pacific,” Scott Davis, head of ETFs at Capital Group, said.
“With more than fifteen years in the industry, his leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand in the region.”
Before joining BlackRock in 2014 as vice-president for iShares UK wealth sales, Sinclair spent three years at State Street, focusing on firm’s UK ETF sales.
Sinclair said he was joining Capital Group at an “exciting time” for the manager.
“The firm stands out for its long-term investment approach, strong research culture and commitment to serving clients, and I look forward to partnering with colleagues to support its growth across Europe and Asia-Pacific,” he said.
Capital Group offers 25 active ETFs and eight ETF model portfolios in the US, where it is the third-largest issuer of active ETFs with a 7.4% share of the market. The firm also manages four active ETFs in Canada.
