Class bets on AI to cut accounting workload

Cloud accounting technology provider, Class has launched two artificial intelligence-powered solutions that seek to reduce manual work for accountants and streamline the management of Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs).
The firm, owned by ASX-listed platform company HUB24, on Wednesday unveiled a SMSF Financial Reporting Video and Intelligent Matching tools, both of which it says will assist in simplifying routine accounting processes while keeping accountants in control of final decisions.
The first, SMSF Financial Reporting Video, focuses on improving how financial information is presented to clients. Developed through collaboration with Rhellm and integrated within Class Super, the tool converts complex portfolio data into clear visual summaries.
Intelligent Matching, however, leverages AI to automatically recommend matches for routine transactions, identify exceptions that require review, and provide confidence ratings that allow accountants to assess and approve recommendations before applying them.
Class said the capabilities address the longstanding challenge of transaction reconciliation, which research has identified as the single largest task for potential time savings.
Class and NowInfinity’s general manager for product Angelique Faes said the new solutions meet the growing demand for practical and secure AI applications that deliver measurable productivity benefits for practices.
“Accountants are looking for technology that helps reduce administrative burden without compromising quality, transparency or control,” Faes said.
“By embedding AI directly into the workflows they use every day, we’re helping accountants spend less time on manual reconciliation and reporting tasks and more time delivering insights, value and better client experiences.”
The launch comes as the accounting profession continues to increase its adoption of AI tools, with almost half of accountants already using artificial intelligence and more planning to introduce the technology into their workflows.
