Iress appoints new CTO to lead platform overhaul

Iress has appointed Darryl Campbell-Blackwell as chief technology officer, placing him in charge of platform modernisation, AI adoption across its products and the growth of its core wealth platform Xplan.
The ASX-listed financial technology group said on Thursday that Campbell-Blackwell has played a central role over the past 15 years in shaping its core systems and improving product delivery and is well positioned to lead the next phase of transformation.
The appointment comes a week after it signed partnership with technology consultancy Thoughtworks, which will support Iress in four key areas including operational efficiency, client-focused product innovation, modular platform modernisation and AI-driven data capabilities.
Iress group chief executive Andrew Russell said the move would strengthen execution as the company shifts from strategy to delivery on its modernisation agenda.
“This appointment comes at a critical time for Iress,” Russell said. “We are focused on modernising our platforms, increasing product velocity and embedding AI in a practical, ROI-led way.”
Campbell-Blackwell, who will be based in the United Kingdom overseeing engineering teams across all regions, said the company’s technology foundations were solid, with the emphasis now on speed and simplification.
“Our focus now is execution- modernising the platform, simplifying our technology environment and delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients,” he said.
Iress also confirmed the permanent appointment of Sam Wall as chief executive of its APAC Wealth business, ending an acting role held since February.
Wall, formerly head of the group’s superannuation business, said he was focused on delivering AI-enabled tools for Xplan users and the advice firms that rely on the platform.
“I’m encouraged by the support I’ve received from clients since stepping into the role and welcome the challenge of delivering a new AI-enabled era of Xplan to drive advice businesses forward,” he said.
