RQI Investors lifts capability with four new hires

Australia-based active quantitative equities manager, RQI Investors has said it will enhance its research capabilities and strengthen its investment processes after announcing four new hires.
The firm – which is part of the First Sentier Group – and manages AUD$29 billion in Australian, global and emerging market shares across its Diversified Alpha and Value strategies, confirmed the appointment of Jiamin Chen, Sophie Crichton Carolan, Ravi Kasula and Daniel Qiu in various roles.
Chief executive at RQI Investors, Andrew Francis said the team’s expansion aimed to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients’ portfolios.
“Research, portfolio management, data, technology and innovation are fundamental to our investment approach, and these new appointments further reinforce the depth and breadth of our expertise in these areas,” he said.
“I’m pleased to welcome Jiamin, Sophie, Ravi and Daniel to RQI Investors and I look forward to the contributions they will bring to the business in support of our clients.”
Chen will fill the Junior Quantitative Portfolio Manager post having previously worked as a G10 Short Term Interest Rate trader at Citi, and was also part of the Data Analytics & Insights team at Colonial First State.
The former marketing and sales administrator at Hemmersbach Group, Carolan is stepping into the role of Client Services Associate. Kasula, former senior data scientist and engineer at Zurich, will hold the title of Senior Data and Systems Engineer, and Qiu joins the business as a Graduate Developer.
