The Bank of Queensland has initiated a search for a new chief executive officer following the departure of George Frazis.

The BOQ announcement thank Frazis and said the board had “formed the view that different leadership is now required”.

The banking group announced Frazis’ departure to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) today stating that chairman, Patrick Allaway had taken on the role of executive chairman for the period of the executive search.

It said Allaway’s appopintment as executive chairman was designed to retain astability and ensure that the executive leadership team could stay focussed on their current roles and responsibilities.

Frazis had been managing director and chief executive of BOQ since 2019 and oversaw the acquisition of ME Bank.
