Portfolio Construction Forum appoints new partner

Education and accreditation provider for Australian and New Zealand investment and wealth professionals, Portfolio Construction Forum, has announced the appointment of seasoned specialist, Nick Schoenmaker, as its new Partner.
With 20 years of industry experience under his belt, Schoenmaker joins the association to further develop its knowledge and content strategy and continue to “serve its community and purpose”.
Schoenmaker has enjoyed several senior roles prior to joining the Forum primarily in asset consultancy and investment portfolio management, most recently at Drummond Capital Partners, Evidentia Group, Aberdeen Standard Investments, AMP Capital and Commonwealth Private.
The Forum’s Managing Partner, Graham Rich, said Schoenmaker’s appointment will see its capabilities and service delivery significantly expand for its 14,000-strong membership base.
“Nick brings deep multi-asset, multi-manager portfolio construction experience, strong relationships across the investment and wealth community, and a genuine commitment to investment education for practitioners.
“He ‘walks the talk’, holding both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations, and he is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) candidate. In an increasingly [volatile, uncertain, complex and ambigious] (VUCA) investment environment, the Forum’s role in challenging portfolio construction beliefs and enabling better portfolio construction knowledge, skill and expertise has never been more important and relevant.
“Deirdre and I are excited to welcome Nick to work alongside us as we continue to grow the Forum’s services for its 13,000+ members and support them in delivering better outcomes for their clients.”
As the Forum comes up to 25 years since it was first established, Schoenmaker’s appointment also reflects the association’s commitment to continuing to provide “high-quality, independent education [that] is essential to improving professional standards”.
“I’ve always believed that high-quality portfolio construction sits at the intersection of strong principles, deep market understanding and continual learning,” Schoenmaker said.
“In an increasingly VUCA environment, the role of independent education and informed debate has never been more important. Portfolio Construction Forum has long set the benchmark. Having been a Forum member since 2009, I’m excited to now contribute to its mission of supporting practitioners to build better portfolios and deliver better outcomes for their clients.”
