Aware commits to deepening adviser relationships via new hire

Aware Super has signalled its commitment to providing deeper support for its financial adviser partners by creating a new Senior Manager, Technical Services role and tasking it to former Insignia Financial national manager, Troy Smith.
In the new role, housed in the fund’s Advice Relationships team, Smith will be responsible for providing technical support to financial advisers on “complex” client scenarios and educational opportunities for licensees and advisers across professional development days, industry association events and webinars.
Smith boasts more than 15 years of experience in technical services assisting advisers, spending time at Insignia as National Manager, Technical Services and more recently at Zurich as Partnership Disputes Resolution Manager.
Aware Super’s General Manager for Growth and Partnerships, Natalie Jarvis, said Smith’s appointment forms part of the fund’s growth strategy to better support the delivery of retirement outcomes for members through improved access to tailored financial advice.
“As adviser engagement continues to grow, it’s critical we invest in deep technical capability that advisers can rely on,” she said.
“Troy brings extensive industry experience and a strong ability to translate complex technical issues into practical guidance, which will further enhance the support we provide to advisers and, ultimately, their clients.”
Aware Super also confirmed it has seen a strong uplift in the number of registered advisers accessing its services and in the new relationships it has secured with licensee partners.
Smith will report to the fund’s National Manager of Advice Relationships, Warwick Gribble.
