NGS Super taps former WTW exec to lead strategy

Nick Callil, the former Head of Retirement Solutions at global advisory and broking firm Willis Towers Watson, has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Strategy at industry superannuation fund NGS Super.
The fund announced the appointment on Friday, saying Callil will oversee its enterprise strategy, long-term business planning, retirement income strategy and growth initiatives. He will also advise NGS Super’s executive team on strategic priorities, regulatory developments, partnerships and potential merger and acquisition opportunities.
Callil boasts more than three decades of experience across superannuation, investments, insurance and regulatory policy. He spent 27 years at WTW advising financial services organisations on strategy, product design, governance and regulatory issues.
A Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, Callil is also a former director of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) and previously advised the Federal Treasury on the framework for retirement income products.
NGS Super chief financial officer, Philippa Minney said the appointment aligns with the fund’s focus on expanding its retirement offerings to ensure members are supported when it matters most.
“Nick brings a rare combination of deep retirement expertise, strategic insight and a strong understanding of the regulatory and industry environment in which super funds operate,” Minney said.
“His leadership will play an important role in helping us navigate emerging opportunities and challenges while remaining focused on delivering better outcomes for our members.”
Callil said he was looking forward to working with the NGS Super team to build on the fund’s strong foundations and help shape the next phase of its strategy and retirement offering.
“Super funds have an increasingly important role to play in helping members navigate the transition from saving for retirement to drawing an income with confidence,” he said.
